About this Blog

Okay, this is the first blog I have written completely on my own. So it would probably be a good idea to say why I'm starting this blog in the first place, right?

Well, I have a number of projects here and there not least of which is my website 'Writer's Forum'. Those of you who know me and/or WF will know that it is not a website that is just mine, and lately it has become a lot bigger and more bloated. So I'm setting up a website that's just for me, and about my writing. It's rather egocentric I know but hey that's the way the 'net seems to be going at the moment.

Here's a poem for you to give you an idea of the type of stuff I write.

Power
They grasp,
They grab,
They scramble,
They scurry.

The more they have,
The more they want,
The closer they are,
The closer they want to be.

They are the servants' of the people,
Just slaves to their own desire,
Fighting for what is right,
But the wrong person's definition.

The people they serve,
The very real concerns,
The very hard working folk,
The least of their worries.

The people could stand up,
The people could be counted,
The same people who put them there,
These people need someone new.

Because Ultimately,
Power seduces,
Power corrupts,
Power drowns,
And, Power Wains.

  1. Reminds me of "Heart of Darkness". I like it. Definitely worth a second look and a close analysis.

  2. Hmm! so most definitely the poem is addressing corrupt politicians. There is a very interesting ironic twist in these two stanzas:

"They are the servants' of the people,
Just slaves to their own desire,
    Fighting for what is right,
    But the wrong person's definition.

    The people they serve,
    The very real concerns,
    The very hard working folk,
    The least of their worries."

Its these two stanzas that add real meaning to the poem.
